2 separate taxi accidents leave 32 injured Durban

Rescue Care paramedics were kept extremely busy yesterday afternoon after attending to two separate taxi accidents in Durban central area.

A taxi and a bakkie collided at the intersection of Leopald and Russel Street around 3pm. On arrival paramedics found that the two vehicles had collided in the junction before coming to rest on the side walk. A total of nineteen people had sustained various injuries from both vehicles. More resources were called to assist due to the number of patients injured. Once more ambulances arrived all of the injured were stabilized on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals for further care.

Then just after 4pm Rescue Care paramedics were once again called to another taxi accident on Berea Road near the Spar. On arrival paramedics found that a taxi and a car had collided in a rear end collision leaving thirteen people injured. More ambulances were called to assist with the number of patients. Once of the injured were stabilized they were transported to various hospitals for further care that they required.

It is unclear what caused both these collisions however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
