Crash on the N3 Durban bound near the Warwick Avenue offramp leaves one dead and another seriously injured

Just after 6am on Saturday morning paramedics raced to a serious accident on the N3 Durban bound near the Warwick Avenue offramp.

On arrival Rescue Care and ER24 paramedics found carnage. A single vehicle had somehow lost control before colliding with a light pole on the side of the busy freeway. On impact the driver was ejected from the vehicle and was found on the Pinetown bound carriageway in the centre lane. The passenger was found in the wreckage. Paramedics immediately began working on both the patients however despite resuscitation efforts of the driver he passed away on the scene. The passenger was carefully extricated from the wreckage before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care that she required.

It is unclear what caused the single vehicle to lose control however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.

Traffic was severely affected on both carriageways of the national highway whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
