Early morning taxi collision leaves 15 injured on the N2 North bound before the M7 in Durban.


Just before 6am this morning Rescue Care and ER24 Paramedics were called to a serious collision on the N2 North bound before the M7 in Durban.

On arrival paramedics found that a car and a taxi had collided and come to rest in the emergency yellow lane. A quick assessment was done and it was established that a that fourteen passengers from the taxi had sustained various injuries and the driver of the car was seriously injured and entrapped in the wreckage. More ambulances as well as rescue personal were called to assist with the scene. The Fire Department had to utilize the jaws of life to free the trapped driver from the wreckage. Once all of the injured were stabilized on the scene they were transported to various hospitals for further care that they required. Three of the fifteen injured had suffered serious injuries and needed Advanced Life Support intervention on the scene before being transported to hospital.

It is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
