Family friend dies when ejected in collision, children injured

A fifteen and three year old were lucky to escape with only minor injuries when the vehicle they were traveling in rolled down an embankment along the N4 near Nelspruit yesterday evening.

Paramedics from ER24 Lowveld arrived on the scene and found the three and fifteen year old along the roadside at the top of the embankment. Although they appeared shaken they did not sustain any serious injuries.

Upon assessment the fifteen year old explained to paramedics that the driver of the vehicle is still at the wreckage. It appeared as if the driver allegedly lost control around a bend on the N4 before it rolled several times down the fifty-meter embankment.

Paramedics made their way down to the wreckage and found the body of the driver lying several meters away from the wreckage. It appeared as if he was ejected during the collision. Sadly there was nothing that paramedics could do and he was declared dead on the scene.

The two children were transported per ambulance to Rob Ferreira hospital in Nelspruit for further medical treatment. The exact cause of the incident is not yet known and will be investigated by the local police services.
