A motorbike rider sustained serious injuries when he crashed his off road motorbike in a sugarcane field near Shongweni dam.
Paramedics from ER24 Durban responded to the incident but found that the terrain was extremely difficult to safely evacuate the injured rider. The SAPS Search and Rescue unit was called to the scene to assist with the evacuation.
While paramedics were stabilising the rider on the scene, the SAPS unit prepared their gear to load the man onto the back of their vehicle.
Team efforts between the paramedics and the SAPS Search and Rescue unit resulted in the injured rider being evacuated safely to an area where he could be transferred into an ambulance.
