Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the N1 south bound near Ysterberg, about thirty-five kilometres south of Polokwane late this afternoon.
Upon their arrival on scene they found that a light delivery vehicle and a heavy goods vehicle had collided resulting in four people losing their lives and three people sustaining injuries ranging from moderate to serious.
The injured people were treated on scene before they were transported to hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
