19 People Injured in Umhlanga Collision between 2 buses and a minibus taxi at an intersection

Crisis Medical Paramedics responded to reports of a serious collision on Umhlanga Rocks Drive, just after Somerset Park at 17:00 this evening.

On arrival, paramedics found that 2 buses and a minibus taxi had collided in an intersection. Immediately more resources were called to the scene to assist emergency workers.

It was established that 19 people had sustained various injuries from minor to moderate. Once the patients were stablished, they were loaded into waiting ambulances before being taken to various area hospitals for further treatment.

The collision resulted in serious traffic delays on the busy route while emergency personnel worked to treat the injured.

At this stage it is unknown what caused the collision however it is believed an errant party failed to observe the intersection yield sign. SAPS were on scene and will be investigating the incident.
