Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the N1 in Lynnwood, Pretoria late this afternoon.
Upon their arrival on scene they found a man and woman in a critical condition after two vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision.
The woman was rushed to hospital via ambulance while the Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift the critically injured man to hospital for the urgent medical care required.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events are unknown and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
