Truck crashes into taxi on the corner of Alice Street and Russel Street in Durban

Rescue Care paramedics were called to a serious collision on the corner of Alice Street and Russel Street in Durban on Saturday around 12:30.

On arrival paramedics found that a truck carrying motor vehicles had collided into the back of a fully laden taxi at the junction. Paramedics found patients strewn across the busy roadway. On a closer assessment paramedics found that the truck passenger was entrapped in the wreckage by his legs. More ambulances and fire department were called to assist with this multiple casualty scene. The jaws of life and other hydraulic equipment had to be used to free the trapped passenger. Once more ambulances arrived to ferry the injured all of the injured were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.

It is unclear what caused the collision however the necessary authorities were on the scene and will be investigating further.
