- Alta Swanepoel will present an update on the national road traffic legislation, transport policy developments, and the draft amendments to the relevant transport and traffic legislation. Various amendments to legislation have been introduced over the last year, a number of amendments have been in draft format for several years and causes confusion in the industry and to the enforcement fraternity, AARTO, etc.
- Alex and Niekerk will discuss the progress on the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project and provide information regarding the processes related thereto and developments on open road tolling.
- Max Braun will address the emerging trends aligned to freight logistics economies that are set to transform road freight and other transport modes. Analysts predict rapid developments towards electronic freight shipment data, more regulations and rules to reduce accidents, improve fuel usage, reduce carbon emissions and introduce stiffer road user charges. The presentation includes the views and opinions of transporters and fleet owners on what needs to be done to assist the industry in providing ongoing cost improvements and making positive contributions to maintaining more efficient supply chains.
- Hannes van Wyk will discuss the current overloading strategies in Africa. He has been involved in projects in various countries in the region and will provide an overview of the current situation and initiatives in Africa to avoid delays and trade barriers and the policies that the countries are considering to avoid overloading control being an obstacle and ensuring the protection of the roads.
