One man was killed this morning when his tractor apparently rolled, and crushed him in Vanderbijlpark.
ER24 paramedics responded to the farming area to find that the tractor had rolled over the deceased’s body, killing him.
Apparently the man was busy ploughing the soil near an embankment when the tractor failed to grip, slid down the embankment and rolled onto the deceased’s chest. Other farm workers immediately rushed to his aid, bringing vehicles and ropes to tow the tractor off him.
Paramedics immediately assessed the patient, finding that he had suffered severe chest and abdominal injuries from the tractor. The man was declared dead on scene. He succumbed to the severe injuries he sustained.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
