Pedestrian’s trip to work ends badly on Manning road just outside Pietermaritzburg CBD

A man in his thirties did not make it to work this morning after a vehicle hit him on Manning road just outside Pietermaritzburg CBD.

ER24 paramedics arrived on scene at approximately 7:30 and found the man lying on the road in a critical condition.

The man was stabilised on scene for the severe head trauma and profuse bleeding. He was thereafter, transported to Greys Provincial Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was left uninjured.

Apparently the man was attempting to cross the busy road when the light motor vehicle hit him, causing him to smash into the windscreen (leaving a hole) and roll onto the roof before landing on the tar.

Local authorities were on scene to investigate further.
