Taxi and two cars collide at intersection along Hammarsdale Main Road leaving 18 injured

Eighteen people were injured, two critically so, after a taxi and two cars collided at a intersection along the Hammarsdale Main Road this evening at around 18h32. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene to find the roadway severely obstructed with the twisted remains of the vehicles, some of the injured was still trapped in the twisted frames of the vehicles. After triaging they found that two people sustained critical injuries , six were seriously injured while ten escaped with minor injuries.

After the injured were stabilised at the scene they transported them to various hospitals in the area for the care that they required.
