Taxi collisions cause disruption this morning

Twenty-four disabled children were injured when their school taxi overturned on the N14 near Diepsloot this morning.

The children aged between seven and eleven were on their way to school when the taxi driver apparently lost control of the taxi and it overturned.

The children were treated for injuries ranging from minor to moderate. None had any fractures but most had lacerations and abrasions.

There were two adults in the taxi who sustained minor injuries.

All patients were transported to Thembisa Hospital for further medical care.

Meanwhile in Pietermaritzburg, 23 people including a one-year-old boy were injured in a collision involving two taxis and two light motor vehicles.

All 23 patients were treated for minor injuries and thereafter transported to five hospitals in the area.

The exact cause of the collision is unclear.
