Benoni
A motorbike rider believed to be in his early twenties died this afternoon (12:30) when his motorbike collided with a barrier near the R21 Boksburg/Benoni off ramp.
According to paramedics on the scene the motorbike rider was found several meters away from his bike. It is believed that his bike was thrown into an open veld next to the intersection when it collided with the barrier.
He [the motorbike rider] was found with severe fatal injuries. Unfortunately due to the injuries sustained there was nothing that paramedics could do for him and he was declared dead on scene.
Vereeniging
In another incident at approximately the same time, paramedics from ER24 Vereeniging responded to a motorbike collision at the intersection of Ring Road and R59 off ramp, Vereeniging.
It is believed that the motorbike collided with the driver’s side of a bakkie. Paramedics found the rider several meters away from his bike with fatal injuries. The man, also in his early twenties, was declared dead on the scene.
The driver of the bakkie was transported to Mediclinic Vereeniging for further medical care.
The exact cause of these incidents is not known. Local authorities attended the incidents and will conduct an investigation.
