Two adult males were left in a critical condition when their taxi collided with a 5-ton truck on Wetton Road in Kenilworth, Cape Town this morning.
Responding ER24 paramedics say the two males (both in their thirties) were trapped in the taxi and were freed in a hour-long operation with help from the Wynberg Fire Department and various other emergency service personnel.
Advanced Life Support treatment was administered to them both after which they and a third occupant of the taxi, who suffered moderate injuries, were transported to a local hospital for further care.
The occupants of the truck walked away with minor injuries.
Local authorities were on scene to investigate.
