A 16-year-old boy’s life was cut short when he took a bullet to his neck in Athlone, Cape Town this afternoon.
The teenager was allegedly on his way back home from school when the bullet hit him.
ER24 and another emergency service arrived at the deceased’s home and found him lying on the living room floor.
His family and neighbours say he knocked on the door and collapsed just after the door was opened.
When responding paramedics arrived on scene the boy’s neighbours were attempting to control his profuse bleeding.
The teenager was declared dead on scene.
Shortly afterwards a second shooting victim (44-year-old male) walked into the house having been shot in the arm.
He was transported to Groote Schuur Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Local authorities are investigating this incident.
