Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the N1 in Bloemfontein this afternoon.
Upon their arrival on scene they found that a cyclist was in a critical condition after he was knocked over by a heavy goods vehicle.
The critically injured man was treated on scene before he was rushed to hospital for the urgent medical care that he required.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
