Fatal car crash on the N2

Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Service and several private ambulance services have responded to an accident involving two light motor vehicles on the N2 south bound between the Mandini toll and the Zinkwazi area.

The paramedics arrived on scene, which was covered in debris from the accident, to find two badly damaged motor vehicles. Tragically one person died in the accident and had already passed away when the paramedics arrived. The second patient was found to be in a critical condition and the paramedics worked together to treat this patient, who also had to be extricated from the crumpled vehicle using the “jaws of life”.

The patient was transported to hospital by a private ambulance service, while being treated by an advanced life support paramedic.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the police.

Already today, which is the start of the school holidays in KZN, there have been several fatal accidents and drivers need to please exercise extreme caution while driving, to slow down and increase following distances. Road laws are there for a reason, to save lives and should not just be seen as suggestions that can be thought of occasionally.
