Rescue Care paramedics attended to two fatal accidents in a row last night in and around Durban.

Paramedics were called to the M4 Durban bound near Riverside offramp just after 20:30. On arrival they found that a single vehicle had somehow lost control before crashing in the bushes next to the highway. Paramedics found that the driver had suffered fatal injuries and was declared deceased by paramedics. There was one passenger in the vehicle as well however they did not sustain any injuries.

Then just after 9pm Rescue Care paramedics were called to the intersection of Edwin Swales and Titren Road for yet another fatal collision. Paramedics arrived on scene to find that a truck and car had collided in the junction. The driver of the car was severely entrapped in the wreckage. Paramedics assessed him however he had unfortunately suffered fatal injuries and there was nothing more paramedics could do. The Fire Department had to use the jaws of life and other hydraulic equipment to free the trapped driver. The truck driver had sustained no injuries.

It is unclear what caused both these collisions however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
