One man was injured when he was trapped under his tractor near Cato Ridge, KwaZulu Natal this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the R103 and closed it for an hour while they, along with provincial rescue personnel, attended to the trapped driver.

Emergency workers assessed the man from beneath the tractor and found that he sustained serious injuries to his abdomen and legs. The man was stabilised while the tractor was being lifted off his body.

The patient was thereafter immediately placed on a spine board before prompt transportation to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

Witnesses on scene later said that the tractor had apparently been driving at a high speed down the road before turning too sharply, causing the tractor to overturn.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.>
