Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the N1 about forty kilometres from Kroonstad this afternoon.
Upon their arrival on scene they found that a motor vehicle had collided with the barrier and then burst into flames.
Two people tragically lost their lives, a woman was found to be in a critical condition and a man sustained moderate injuries.
Both patients were treated on scene before they were transported to hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation
