One child killed, six others injured in motor vehicle collision

One scholar was killed and six others were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and fell down a small embankment on Joubert street, Pietermaritzburg this morning.

ER24 paramedics arrived on scene to find the light motor vehicle down a small embankment. General public ,who had heard and seen the collision, rushed to the aid of the children, helping them out of the wrecked vehicle. Paramedics assessed the scene, discovering that one child had been killed while six others had suffered moderate injuries.

ER24 paramedics began their treatment of the patients before promptly transporting four patients to various hospitals in the area. Other medical services on scene transported the remainder of the patients.

Witnesses stated that the vehicle had been driving around a bend before it apparently lost control and rolling down the embankment.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
