Randburg collision leaves seven injured

Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the R114 in Randburg this afternoon.

Upon their arrival on scene they found that a heavy goods vehicle and light delivery vehicle were involved in a partial head-on collision. The truck overturned and came to a rest on its side. The female driver of the light delivery vehicle was entrapped in the vehicle and found to be in a critical condition. Services had to make use of the Jaws of Life to extricate the injured woman from the vehicle. Six people sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious.

The critically injured woman was airlifted to hospital while the remaining injured patients were treated on scene before they were transported to hospital for further medical care.

Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
