Two people were injured after two heavy goods trucks collided head-on at the Alton Traffic lights in Richards Bay this afternoon at around 15h04. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the accident and found the roadway in both directions severely obstructed with the twisted remains of the vehicles. After triaging the injured they found that the two drivers had sustained serious injuries.
After the injured were deftly immobilized on trauma boards and stabilised on scene paramedics transported them to a local hospital for the specialised care that they required.
