Taxi collision leaves 10 injured

Ten people have been injured, one seriously so after a taxi collided with a trailor being pulled by a tractor in South Coast Road Mobeni just after 07:30am.

Rescue Care paramedics arrived to find the driver still entrapped in the wreckage. Immediately rescue services were called to assist free the driver. Nine passengers were found to have also sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Once Fire Department had arrived the jaws of life were used to cut the driver free. Once all of the injured were stabilized on the scene they were transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.

It is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating the incident further.

Traffic was severely affected as emergency personal worked to clear the scene.

The trailor was carrying paint which was spilt on the roadway and needed to be cleaned up.
