Boy (3) airlifted after pedestrian collision on Klipheuwel road traveling towards Malmesbury

A three-year-old child is in a critical condition after a vehicle on Klipheuwel road traveling towards Malmesbury knocked him down this afternoon.

It is understood that the child was walking with his friends on the side of the road when a vehicle collided with him. When ER24’s paramedics arrived they found members of the community as well as the child’s distraught mother on the scene. The mother explained to paramedics that she was waiting for him to cross the road when the collision occurred.

Upon assessment paramedics found that the little boy sustained multiple injuries and advanced life support intervention was required. Provincial Government EMS later arrived on scene and activated the AMS Helicopter to airlift the little boy to Red Cross Children’s Hospital for further medical care.

The driver and the vehicle were found a few meters away from the incident. Paramedics assessed the driver but found that he sustained no visible injuries and was only in shock.

The incident was handed over to the local authorities.
