Driver critically injured in the early hours of the morning

At around 2.45am this morning, Wednesday April 16, 2014 a Polo GTI crashed into a highway maintenance vehicle in the fast lane on the N3 North just before the Linksfield off-ramp.

EMER-G-MED paramedics arrived on scene to find that the driver was entrapped in the vehicle; it took over an hour to free the patient from the wreckage. The driver had sustained critical poly trauma injuries to the spine, neck, head and jaw, as well as bilateral compound femur fractures and a compound radius ulna fracture to the right wrist.

The patent was treated on scene before being transported by A09 and RV02 to Union Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
