One man was left in a critical condition after his vehicle collided with the back of a stationary bus on the P483 near Newcastle in KwaZulu Natal last night.
ER24 paramedics arrived on scene to find the driver trapped in his mangled vehicle. Emergency workers on scene freed the patient from the wreck using jaws-of-life equipment before treatment could continue.
Paramedics’ assessments showed that the patient had suffered serious chest and head trauma. Advanced life support was performed on the patient before he was placed on a spine board and rapidly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The cause of the collision is unknown and local authorities were on scene to conduct their investigation.
