Man killed in head on collision at Seven Oaks

A collision on the R33 near Seven Oaks in Muden, between a Toyota Hilux and a flatbed towing vehicle left one person dead and another with minor injuries.

It is understood that the driver was a priest traveling on his way home in the Toyota Hilux when he was involved in the head-on collision with the towing vehicle carrying a broken down vehicle on the back. When paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene they found the bakkie ripped open on the driver’s side with the driver lying several meters away from the vehicle. Sadly there was nothing that paramedics could do for him and he was declared dead on the scene.

Both vehicles were found several meters apart from each other.

The driver of the towing vehicle sustained only minor injuries and was later transported to Greytown Hospital for further care.

The exact cause of the incident is not yet known. The incident was handed over to the local police for further investigation.
