A 35-year-old motorbike rider is in a critical condition after he crashed his motorbike on Otto du Plessis road between Big Bay and Melkbosstrand this morning.
Members of the local Sea Rescue (NSRI) came across the incident and immediately started stabilising the rider before emergency services arrived. Paramedics from ER24 and Life Healthcare arrived on the scene and initiated advanced life support treatment. He [the rider] sustained multiple injuries and was rushed off to a nearby hospital for further stabilisation.
The exact cause of the incident is not clear. Bystanders on the scene explained that the rider crashed and was flung from his motorbike onto the side of the road.
