One man was killed and three others sustained minor to moderate injuries this morning when a truck collided with a bakkie on the R617 just outside Pietermaritzburg.
Paramedics arrived on scene to find one man motionless in his bakkie, which was found on the side of the road. The driver showed no signs of when assessed and was declared dead on scene.
The three injured survivors were found in their truck, which had rolled an embankment after the collision.
The patients were safely removed from the truck and treated for their injuries. They were thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
The cause of the collision is not yet known and local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
