Drug Traffickers arrested in Mdantsane

Illegal drugs and the abuse thereof are accelerating and leads to the breaking down of law and order. Many crimes are committed by suspects whilst under the influence of drugs and many drug users commit crime to finance their drug habit. Therefore the SAPS have intensified activities in an effort to eliminate the scourge of drugs.

Yesterday, at about 12 noon, Mdantsane SAPS members arrested a 36 year old suspect driving a bakkie with 17 bags of dagga worth R700 000 in Macleantown near Mdantsane. This suspect has been under police surveillance for some time.  He is due to appear in the East London Magistrates’ court soon on charges of drug dealing and possession.

Mdantsane Cluster Commander, General William Mbaliso commended his members for a job well done, “It really shows that my members are alert and they are proactive in their approach when performing crime prevention duties,” he said.
