Four injured in Free State head-on collision near Fouriesburg

Four woman were injured when two bakkies collided head-on on the R26 near Fouriesburg, Freestate early this evening.

ER24 paramedics responded to the quiet area to to find two mangled bakkies spread across the road, one of them lying on its side in the veld. Four people lay next to the various vehicles.

Paramedics immediately began their assessment and treatment of the patients, finding that one of the woman was in a critical condition and the remaining three having sustained only moderate injuries.

Once all the patients were in a stable condition, they were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Witnesses stated that one of the vehicles had apparently drifted into oncoming traffic.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
