Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the M4 in Westbrooke this morning at around 06h00.
Upon their arrival on scene they found one person in a serious condition after a motor vehicle came to a standstill in the centre of a traffic circle and burst into flames.
The patient was treated and stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
