Man freed in two-hour rescue after delivery truck crashed into tree on M13 near Bellville, Cape Town


An adult male sustained critical injuries after his delivery truck collided with a tree just before midnight on the M13 near Bellville, Cape Town.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, responded to the quiet road where the critically injured man was trapped inside the large truck. The man was freed in a two-hour operation where jaws-of-life equipment was used.

Paramedics thereafter, performed advanced life support on the patient after which he was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

The man was traveling with two other occupants who sustained no injuries.

The collision occurred when the driver’s vision was apparently impaired by dense fog and he crashed into a tree.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
