Miraculous escape for a family after their vehicle plunged into a river

A father and his two children aged three and seven sustained serious injuries after their vehicle plunged into a river in South Port this evening at around20h00. Reports indicate that the family was traveling on the south bound lane of the R102 when the vehicle left the roadway, smashed through the railings and landed in the river below.

Netcare 911 paramedics the SAP and a bystander arrived at the scene and managed to rescue the patients from the partially submerged vehicle. After triaging the patients it was found that they had all sustained serious injuries, the three year old boy also suffered near drowning symptoms. Paramedics stabilised the injured on scene and then transported them to a nearby hospital for the care that they required.
