Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the N1 outside Ventersburg towards Kroonstad this morning.
Upon their arrival on scene they found that two heavy goods vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision resulting in one person found to be in a critical condition.
The patient was treated on scene and rushed to hospital for further medical care.
Exact details to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
