Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the N3 near Heidelberg last night at around 22h00.
Upon their arrival on scene they found that two motor vehicles had collided head-on resulting in two people, a twenty-seven-year-old man and a young girl believed to be aged between one and two-years-old, losing their lives and two people found to be in a critical condition.
The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift a critically injured woman to hospital while the other critically injured patient was rushed to hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
