Groutville train crash into car leaves one injured

Two people miraculously escaped with their lives after a train collided into their vehicle at the Groutville railway station this evening just after 17h00.

Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the car crumpled at the side of the train, reports indicate that it was hit on the front fender, the car swung around and then was dragged by the train.

The two occupants in the vehicle managed to escape one with minor injuries and the other severely traumatised.

Paramedics stabilised the patients at the scene and then transported one to a local hospital for the care that he required.
