Minister Peters sends condolences following fatal crash in Limpopo

Transport Minister Dipuo Peters has expressed shock and sadness following news of fatal crash that occurred on the Tiyani Rabungwani road between Elim and Soekmekaar in the Limpopo province today.

Preliminary reports indicate that 10 people were killed when a Minibus taxi and a light delivery type vehicle collided head on. Six (6) people were critically injured and 13 suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash.

A team of crash and incident reconstruction and investigation experts has been dispatched by the Road Traffic Management Corporation RTMC) to determine the cause of the crash.

Families of the deceased are also encouraged to consult with the Road Accident Fund (RAF) for assistance and support during this period.

“Our heartfelt condolences go to the families of the deceased and we wish them all the strength and comfort during this tragic period and moment of grief. We also wish all those who are injured a speedy recovery. We shall not waiver in our efforts to fight this carnage on our roads. We shall continue this fight without any compromise.” said Minister Peters.

“Every single one of us as South Africans has a role to play in the reduction of this unnecessary tragic loss of lives – motorist, passenger and pedestrian alike. Let us all be vigilant at all times on our roads and obey all the rules concluded” Minister Peters.
