Paramedics from KZN emergency medical services have had an extremely busy night

Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services, have had an extremely busy night responding to a multitude of incidents, which were on going though out the night. It being a end of month weekend being the most likely reason. There were many trauma related incidents, including assaults and stabbings as well as motor vehicle collisions.

There were several motor vehicle collisions which resulted in fatalities or multiple people being injured.

In the Ugu district the was an incident involving a minibus which left the Sathane road in the Umzinto area and crash down an embankment, coming to a rest about 100meters down the embankment. The paramedics and attending firefighters had to search the thick brush to find the patients, who had been ejected out of the vehicle. They treated a total of 11 patients for injuries ranging from critical to minor, before transporting the patients to GJ Crookes hospital for continued medical care.

In another collision, which occurred on the N3 at Van Reneens pass, a truck and a car collided in the early hours of this morning. Tragically a child of about seven years old lost his life in the collision. The paramedics treated another child and two adults for injuries. The patients were transported to Ladysmith hospital by the paramedics from KZN EMS and a private ambulance service, for further medical care.

At the intersection of the R34 and R36 in the Zululand district at about 23h30 the was an incident, which reportedly only involved a single light motor vehicle but one person was fatality injured and two other patients were injured and transported to Nkonjeni hospital.

The paramedics the Ugu district also had to sadly declare two patients deceased, who had sustained fatal injuries, from wounds which were consistent with stab wounds. The one case was in the iNandazulu area and the other in the Ludimala area.

The police area currently investigating all of these incidents and further comment on details of the incidents, will be for Police comment.
