Truck causes havoc in Alberton as it drives straight into petrol station [Photos]

This morning Friday June 27, 2014 a truck was driving down a hill on Voortrekker Road in Alberton, it is alleged that the brakes failed, resulting in it straight into a petrol station and colliding with a car that had just filled up with petrol.

The car overturned in the collision and the truck crashed into the petrol station shop, luckily missing all the petrol pumps.

The part of the building he hit is currently being held up by the truck. The driver was removed from the cab by fire-fighters and transported to hospital by EMER-G-MED’s A09.

Miraculously he only sustained cuts and bruises and a concussion. The truck cab was completely smashed in with a lot of damage.

The driver of the Mercedes was fortunate to escape without any injuries, the truck connected with the boot of her car flipping it over. She said she hadn’t removed her seatbelt when she got to the petrol station and it held her safely in place.

The Fire Department has now secured the scene to safely remove the truck. No one in the building sustained any injuries.
