Five suspects were arrested in the early hours of this morning thanks to the vigilance of our SAPS members.
This morning at about 05:30, members were patrolling along the Gateway area in KZN when they saw a suspicious looking Toyota Corolla with Estcourt registration plates. They started to follow the vehicle and the suspects sped off. Police gave chase and a shoot-out ensued.
The vehicle stopped at Umhlanga Rocks near the garage and five suspects attempted to run away on foot. They were all arrested and two of them sustained gunshot wounds.
They will be charged with attempted murder and possession of stolen property. The vehicle was stolen at Berea area. Housebreaking implements were found in the vehicle. They will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court soon.
