2 Killed in crash at the Nandi Drive bridge in Durban

Two people have been killed one thought to be approximately ten years old and an adult after a collision on the N2 North bound at the Nandi Drive bridge.

Paramedics arrived to find total carnage on the highway. A truck and a car had collided before the truck collided with the support beam for the bridge leaving both driver and passenger severely entrapped in the cab. Paramedics assessed both occupants and found that they had sustained fatal injuries and had unfortunately passed away before their arrival. The driver of the vehicle was treated for moderate injuries before she was transported to a nearby hospital for the care that she required.

At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further.

Traffic was severely affected as only two lanes were open and it was peak hour on the busy route.
