A nine year old has been killed in a serious roll over accident on the N2 North bound before Umgeni Road just after 14:30 today.
Rescue Care and EMRS paramedics arrived on the scene to find a single vehicle lying on its side, next to it lay the lifeless body of the nine year old male. Paramedics quickly assessed the young child however found that he had suffered fatal injuries and had passed away before paramedics arrival. He was then declared deceased. No one else was injured in the accident.
It is unclear what caused the accident however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
Traffic was severely affected as only two lanes of the freeway was open to allow traffic through, when Rescue Care paramedics left the scene the traffic was backed up all the way to spaghetti junction.
