One man was seriously injured after his bakkie overturned on the N2 South on Umbogintwini Hill near the Athlone Park off ramp in KZN this afternoon. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit arrived at the scene and found the driver still trapped in the vehicle. The rescue officer had to smash the window and clambered into the wreckage to free the driver that was trapped by his seat belt. The patient was stabilised at the scene and then transported to a local hospital for the care that he required.
Paramedics and tow truckers had to unload the bags of plastic onto another bakkie to allow the towing services to pull the vehicle back onto its wheels before they could tow it out of the way.
