Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the R40 in White River, Mpumalanga this morning.
Upon their arrival on scene they found a minibus had overturned and was found on the side of the road.
Upon assessment of all the patients it was found that eight people tragically lost their lives, one person was in a critical condition and eight people were in a serious condition.
The critically injured patient was airlifted to hospital and the remaining patients were transported to hospital after receiving treatment on scene.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
