Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the N5 approximately thirty-seven kilometres from Harrismith this afternoon.
Upon their arrival on scene they found that two heavy goods vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision.
One person was found to have sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital after receiving treatment on scene.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
