Photo from scene after after a taxi and truck collided M13 and Richmond Road at Pinetown

Eighteen people have been left with various injuries after a taxi and truck collided at the intersection on the M13 and Richmond Road around 16:30 yesterday afternoon.

Rescue Care paramedics arrived on the scene to find that the two vehicles had collided in the junction before coming to rest on the onramp back onto the M13 East bound. Paramedics found a passenger still entrapped in the wreckage and with the assistance of the Durban Fire Department she was cut free using the jaws of life. Other passengers were found lying on the grass bank next to the roadside. Once all of the injured had been stabilized they were transported by various ambulances to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.

At this stage it is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating the incident further.

Traffic was severely effected as the entire onramp was closed whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
